Sittin' Outside

It’s not as hot today, don’t get me wrong, it’s warm, but we’re in the double digits as opposed to triple.

The light is changing. When you live in Southern California the signs of Autumn’s arrival are much more subtle than in most climes. Mostly, I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors, once the weather cools down a bit. We moved from a property with acreage to a small yard back in June. We’ve set up several seating areas outside. Now that the heat is on its way out we may even have a chance to use the fire pit again, we haven’t used it since we first moved in before it got so hot. Our front porch is shady in the afternoons, and a great place to watch the neighborhood kids fly by on their skateboards or bikes. Our backyard is small, but has a view of the Santa Rosa Plateau, and the sunsets.

Tonight we’re grilling steaks and I’m making potatoes and salad. Just kicking back. The one photo shows my two cairn terriers, (think Toto), lying in the sun after their bath this morning. Ah, what a life.

Your dogs are so cute sunbathing on the porch:). The patio looks comfortable and welcoming and dinner sounds great too!

Nice! You have a lovely spot. Although I don't envy you that heat! I'll take my 4 seasons any day :)

Looks like your dogs have got it right for Southern Cal. Here in New England, we're in the mid-60s, and the foliage colors are just getting underway.

It's been a beautiful day up the coast here in BC. Yesterday morning was the first one to have that hint of cooler days to come. I love the autumn!

Oh Elizabeth, your patio, yard and porch are lovely. Love the furniture, the fence, and the flooring. I would love to sit out there with you for a sunset and glass of wine. Cheers!

I can feel the heat coming up off that paving all the way over here , in my English corner of Blogland!

Well I'm a big fan of heat so I think I'd love your back yard- it looks so comfy. And I think those dogs and I could get up to some good napping together! Very nice.

Here in New Mexico, fall has for sure arrived. The weather is wonderful. It was our first summer and we expected much more heat. It was hot…especially in the direct sunlight for extended periods…but not unbearable at all. Our back patio is shield from the sun after about 1PM so, afternoons and especially evenings are very pleasant. We spend as much time outside on the patio as possible.

Best Regards, Galen

92 degrees in the shade in Northeast Florida today, so I'm really aligned with you on looking forward to cooler weather. For the most part, I'm a summer girl, but it's been a very hot summer and even I am ready for the heat to subside. Menopause does that for ya.

Your photos are lovely and tranquil. LOVE the pooches enjoying the warm sunshine. And that house! It's so pretty! What a life, indeed. Enjoy it!

While everyone else is blogging about the onset of fall, us Californians are still dealing in triple digits. Thankfully, today is overcast in the central valley and I am encouraged fall will actually make a showing.

Enjoyed purusing your photos!

This looks lovely. I think it's funny that you look forward to the autumn so you can spend more time outside. It's so opposite here although I really do enjoy the winter and hope that I get out more this year than last. Deaglan could barely walk in the snow last year so that alone will make it easier this year.
