For The Love of McCorkle
I can't imagine how it happened, or should I say didn't happen? But, I had never heard of Jill McCorkle until I was in bed a few nights ago, (where I do the majority of my reading), poking through Amazon on my Kindle, looking for a short story collection of interest. I found Ms. McCorkle's Going Away Shoes and promptly downloaded the first chapter for free. (My favorite part of owning a Kindle.) After reading that incredible first paragraph I thought, who is amazing Jill McCorkle, and why don't I know about her? I bought Going Away Shoes and read it in two nights. Then I bought, Creatures of Habit, and the second book was as good as the first. Yay! I just bought her novel, Ferris Beach, and I'll start reading that one tonight. Have you ever done this? Discovered an author and fallen head over heels, so much so, that you read everything they'd written that you could get your hands on?

Oh yes. It happened recently with me when I discovered Sarah Waters. Her most recent book "The Little Stranger" is mesmerizing - and not about what you would think! I wasn't surprised to read that it had been nominated for awards.

If she won a NC Literary Award, she's my kind of author! I'll look her up!
I haven't heard of Jill, but will definitely check to see if our library has any of her books on hand. Always appreciate a recommendation.
I haven't heard of her either, but your enthusiasm has piqued my interest.
Thanks for the insight, I have been contemplating purchasing a Kindle.

Thanks for the tip on Jill. I don't have a Kindle yet, but hopefully some day. In the meanwhile, I will have to order hard copies.
Since you asked... I once found a Spanish guitarist on Amazon (Johannes Lindstead) when I was scouting for pool music. I listened to all the sample track on all his CDs and ordered every single one. Later I posted a review on Amazon and Johannes contacted me. It was a fun encounter.
Oh, that is such a wonderful feeling when you can connect with an author like that. I'm also going to look her up.
Hmm, never heard of her...but now I'll have to look for her!
Thanks again for your amazing post...it's up!
I am a slow and through reader.. and read many books multiple times... so that can not by definition happen very often in a lifetime for me.
I like memorizing passages from books I read as well.
But if I read faster I could see how this would happen.
I have heard of her through a couple of english majors that I know.
I'd never heard of this author but finally I have money again and next week I'm going to Gaborone for book buying. I'll look for her.
I am an author stalker from long back. I love finding a new author and going off to find all of their books. A disappointment when they only have the one you've read though.
I love finding new authors...and yes, I devour their works all at once ;-)!!! Enjoy!!!! And thanks for the recommend!!!! Love to you~Janine XO
I love new romances...they are divine...
Now I must check her out.
