Well, finally started decorating, didn't get all that much done, but I am getting somewhere. We played Christmas music and that goes a long way in setting the mood. I drank a couple of eggnogs, (how many calories are in those things? I don't even want to know.) I wouldn't normally drink anything vaguely resembling eggnog any other time of the year, but I downed two, and now I have a nagging headache and my belly hurts. Too rich. That's the end of the eggnog for me.
I need to make time to watch Elf, and Love Actually, and The Family Stone, and It's a Wonderful Life, and Christmas Story.
I need to mail my Christmas cards tomorrow, finish up with this decorating business, and buy some more presents. I need to be grateful that I am able to do all of the above.
(Please note: Second photo from the top, that's exactly what I look like while decorating my tree--doesn't everybody?)

I love the snowman cartoon! Hilarious!
No Mo Eggnog for me either, I just can't drink the stuff.
LOL! Love the icicles!
Eggnog - yuk.
I always wondered where icicles came from. LOL!
I may just have to use that snowmen cartoon when I'm teaching puberty - the kids would LOVE it!
Don't forget to add White Christmas to your movie list :)
And The Grinch!, don't forget The Grinch. The Jim Carrey one.
I have it and also have Elf ready and standing by to go into the DVD player.
Good call on drawing the egg nog line. That stuff, I'm convinced, is our next big terror threat.
I liked eggnog as a kid. Can't stomach the stuff now.
My fav christmas movie was always Miracle on 34th Street.
Hey, Elizabeth! I love the snowman cartoon! That was so funny!
I've never had eggnog. I think it's the "egg" that throws me. I can't imagine drinking something with egg in it would be very good. And I'm never around it. Maybe one day...
I'm just starting with my Christmas stuff, so you're way ahead of me! I am sending Smilebox cards this year. Hilarious snowman cartoon!
Great pictures! No eggnog for me ever, never did like it so I just eat extra cookies instead :-)
Love Actually is way at the top of my Christmas movies list. I also must watch Denis Leary's The Ref at least once a year. Kevin Spacey is excellent in it. Enjoy the rest of your decorating!
Send the egg nog this way. Love it- the richer the better is my view on food (unfortunately). Laughed out loud at the snow folk.
Alix- please no Grinch. I just couldn't get past the poor little dog.
Why yes! That is actually a picture of me. I don't know how you got it. Probably my sister sent it to you. She's on a smear campaign that woman. Of course, I was younger then and the kids behaved and we had lots of dough to spend on shiny stuff. I wasn't as happy as I look though because I had a lover and I was scared of getting caught. She was a girl guide leader and it would've been a big hoo-ha in our neighbourhood I can tell you. I remember that night so well. Marvin was loaded, he'd had three or four martinis - little Jeffry had just told us that he quit highschool to join the merchant marines and his sister, Sissy, well the less said about her the better. I'd had a face lift two months before so that's why my skin looks so shiny. It didn't really take but my lover didn't care. She said she liked her women a bit softer than vinyl anyway. Marvin left me before the lights were off the tree in January. He became a Zen mechanic in New Mexico. You may have heard of him? He wrote a book called Zen and the Art of Fixing Old Hippies' Love Wagons. I shacked up with Erma, my lover, for a few months but then I hit the road to find myself. I did actually find myself. I apparently am a woman who needs to make stories from photos. It doesn't pay the rent but then the trailer I live in doesn't cost too much and I supplement my income by raising owls. It's a life if not a laugh.
Of course that's what we all look like decorating the Christmas tree! I look that way when I cook, clean, and do laundry too-lol;).
Blessings,
Kim
Bah humbug. Not even putting up the tree and decorations this year. :)
The snowman cartoon is too funny!
When you mentioned your to-do list, you inspired me to finish up! I sent out the last of my cards today, and actually wrapped a bunch of presents today, too. Now I feel much better about the upcoming holiday!

That's what I look like when I'm doing my decorating. To you anyway, after your two eggnogs.
:)
Ew and LOL on the first one.
I haven't put up any decorations yet. We actually have the lights since Diwali in October. Now we have to get that tree. Maybe tomorrow. I love decorating the tree.
Thanks for the laughs, Elizabeth. I watch the same movies (except Family Stone) each year too. As for egg nog...well, let's just say I leave it for Santa.
P.S. Jan, you're a funny gal!
Have a great weekend!
Hysterical pics! Thanks for sharing! I needed the giggle!
I swear that one glass of eggnog can bloat you for a week but oh so good!
I have always wondered where icicles come from!
I like eggnog; my kids do not. They hate it. But it's Christmas tradition. We must drink eggnog on Christmas Eve. They usually would stir the eggnog with the candy cane, then eat the candy. Finally, once they were grown and gone, I gave up. Last year, they were both home, but I didn't try to force eggnog on them. They were so disappointed and demanded to know where it was. Turns out drinking eggnog is not a Ginger House tradition. Hating eggnog and refusing to drink it is.

OK, I'm sorry to ask, but I'm not sure if eggnog has raw eggs in it? What about booze? If not a splash of liquor might lighten up the heavy feeling. I also bought my "frsh" tree today, and I look just like that lady decorating. Isn't it amazing how poised and perfect we all are?
love these pictures - the cartoon ones are cute and if you really look like that decorating the tree - ok then I'm a real elf. lol. Have a great weekend and feel better after the eggnog buzz wears off. Sarah
Love these. The mood is definitely enhanced with egg=nog.
Ho ho ho ... so glad the bug has bitten. You'll feel so much better when your house is all glittery. With most of my decorations in storage, and me not willing to spend much on more - it's a little sparse around here. But stockings are hung, the eggnog is in the fridge, and gifts are ready to be wrapped.
I, too, feel so grateful that we can do these things. It has been such a hard year for so many.
Looking Christmasy!!

The Snowman comic is hilarious!
I love that you said you're grateful you can do all those things. What a wonderful Christmas gift to give yourself.
Such a busy time of year, isn't it? Glad you can find a little assistance in relieving holiday stress...enjoy...And yes, I DO imagine you to look so beautiful while decorating your tree...Me? Not so much...LOL... Love you! Janine XO
In browsing through your blog I found several I wanted to comment on. Instead, I will just leave a comment here and say I really enjoy your posts. And your clip art - so cute! I look forward to stopping by again and getting to know you and your writing.
Happy Holiday
I thought so, when I saw the second photo, I thought, I bet that's Elizabeth decorating her tree." :)
LOL loved the post! Never had Eggnog before, maybe I will try it.
